The SX-70 Wood Camera - Wenge / Purpleheart
Last year in 2020, we released the original SX-70 Wood Camera, made of exotic woods selected for their beauty and contrast. We were secretly also working on a second version of this eye-grabbing work of art.
This year, we're proud to introduce our very final Woodcraft - the SX-70 Wood Camera in Wenge and Purpleheart.
Our Master Wood Craftsman George is approaching 80 years old, and he has finally - and reluctantly - decided to close up his woodshop for good.
We selected the legendary Polaroid SX-70 for two reasons: its unique status as the first truly "instant" camera, and it's iconic geometric design, brought about by its ability to fold flat and fit into a coat pocket.
The SX-70 is one of the most elegant and beautiful cameras ever designed, and it merits a fitting tribute.
The SX-70 Wood Camera
Only 10 of these hand-crafted Wood SX-70 Cameras have been made.
Over 20 hours of work goes into making each one, with every single piece of wood cut, sanded, fitted, joined and finished by hand.
We sat down and carefully designed and prototyped multiple versions of this Wood Camera, before settling on the final design, which allows the storage of up to 40 Polaroid photographs.

Each SX-70 Wood Camera is made of 4 different types of wood from around the world, that were specially selected for their superior beauty and grain, and distinct contrast to each other.
